*cracks knuckles*

You came to the right place for some constructive criticism. All righty, mate, here goes:

Your space scene needs have anti-aliasing, especially when running S3D (tick anti-aliasing at 3 as a final move before clicking Ok), and the moon floor is flat. I mean, flat as a board, and if you have used tube oblique, it would have make it curvy, and added some atmospheric glow to the moon, it would been nailed. Goonfella is one of the best at space scene, and I'm sure he'll be by to give you some tips.

Your sigs could be better, but your current one is the best out of the bunch you have made. I am not really into making sigs like some people are, but don't get discouraged. Your current one shows a lot of promise for future sig making from you. Keep at it.

I think your Floors is your best ones. "No Way Out" has the mysterious/horror movie theme going. Stick to that for a while, and I wouldn't be surprised if Welshblue come by and say, "Man, that's the bomb!" He probably wouldn't say it that way, but that's usually what draws him in. The Misc. stuff is not that bad. It is obvious you followed some reputable tutorials, just remember, some tutorials are made to "think outside of the box," so don't be afraid to branch out.

Overall, you are off to a good start, mate. I hope my critique doesn't scare you off. :D

Thanks for all of the constructive criticism! I was hoping someone would finally help me on my spacescapes. I love making them but I suck at the concept :P Thanks for the commentary on my sigs, too! On the misc. stuff, yes it's mainly tutorials, I tried variating some of them, but they were done as some of the first few works I ever done, so yeah :P

There are 2 things to remember: we all have strengths & areas for improvement. I'd rather not use the term or even think of the concept of weakness.

Just look what you've done with a bit of direction! Here you will grow like a weed (in the nicest possible way).

Lance is good - he finds things that I had never even dreamed of in terms of improving an image. I look at something & think, "Nice!" then Lance mentions something & I think, yeah - didn't see that. Seeing what is there, what is not, is one of the most critical aspects of art, esp realistic stuff.

Nearly forgot! WELCOME!

EDIT: Looking at the last image you did with the blue floor, that was a great idea to use Jumble...might try that one too! So nice when we can share ideas & grow.

 thought you said here you will grow like weed lmao! Barbie didn't know you did that stuff..... lol jk.

:slap: back on topic. You have a great start here weylin. Check out the tutorials section there is a tutorial that you could apply your floor textures to easily. It is call glass/gloss orb tutorial by sargon III.

You have some striking concepts and seem to think out of the box which will make you fit in great here. The spacescapes could use some work but they are a great start. If i remember correctly there are some decent tuts on the main forum that deal with spacescapes. Or you could prod mr. goonfella into making a tut lol...

but i digress... welcome to the forums mate and i am looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us.

best regards,
chad

That is funny! I was asked on DA how much weed I do to come up with my images! None - never got into that sort of stuff. To be honest I was too scared of what might happen to me under the influence. Don't drink much either...running joke between my old boss & ne that got us into heaps of strife.

Weylin, don't you let Chad lead you astray - astray not ashtray!

Wow! I seem to already be like family here! That is a good feeling. Also, for my newest floor, I did the Rainbow Twist (correct name?), messed with settings, color tinted it blue, and polar transformation with default settings(?). Then I'm not sure, but I think I Also used twist at 2.00 size. Then I did the radial blur deluxe thing you showed me, and used jumble. settings were 12 and 10 for X and Y sizes, to make perfect squares instead of rectangles :P (on an 800x600 canvas).

you may not get the same result, because my memory is bad right now and I am at school and can't test again.

Nice gallery! :shock2: Lots of cool images. What's awesome about this forum is that if you ever receive constructive criticism you won't feel bad. :)

Yeah, the other forums were like "cool I like it", or "It looks bad, you might want to feather that, do this, do that, and it'll be better"

Oh and the "Rate the sig above you"... "It's okay, I like it and it's cool and all, but there's better. 3/10" :P

Erm, I made that sword on my 3rd day of using PDN, and as my 5th(ish) Image. I'd say it's for anyone who can follow a nicely done tut ^_^

Some things gel & some things don't. I had a lot of trouble with even some of the simplest tutes in the beginning. The author of the tute is a well-respected artist whose concern is always to help others. The title is appropriate because she didn't want anyone to become so frustrated with it that they'd give up & assumes that the student has a grasp of the basic ideas of using the program, or any digital art program for that matter, which I did not.

Many times we stuff up a tute because we forget about layers etc.

So in no way shape or form was the author being rude or demeaning - just the opposite.

New image! I'm not sure whether the wait was worth it, though. Oh well:
