A+ work there, buddy. Awesome. Nice shot of the night scenery and the hunter hunting for its prey. Very beautiful!

I agree with Helen. I love the tree's starkness. The whole image is quite moody. The hunter with soft highlights & roundish shape, tones down the eeriness. The hunter hunts to stay alive but there is no malice evident. Perhaps because he has no eyes.

The other birds should be sleeping, or have they heard his call & are watchful? If they all had eyes, say an amberish yellow, the image would be scary.

A great work from you!

@ Helen : thanks, glad you like it :)

@ Barbieq : it's a scene I have witnessed a few times, it's almost as if Taibhse (he is a barn owl) is playing with them, the speed and stealth he fly's in and out the tree's with is increadable and yet even if he forces a bird to take flight he will not kill it, his preference is for mice and voles, it's just some macabre game he seems to like playing.

I see! Yes, I think the image portrays that very well. That is very macabre indeed!

The Hunter: Gloomy, gloomy. Very strong concept. Very effective. Don't look if you are depressed. :shock2:

On the contrary Leif. Look at this one as much as you can if you want to see an example of experts at work, both the owl and the artist. This image is simply stunning. It`s so atmospheric , I can just here the bird swooping overhead. Lovely.
And check out the background! Birds sitting in the branches of those superb trees and the light reflecting off the mountains in the far distance. Plus of course the moon and stars. I really can`t fault this one. As Helen said - A+ !
Excellent Afg. :wink2:

It took me a while to figure out what The Hunter was about. I failed to see the owl at first until I spotted a dark shadow in the skies, and it dawned on me. Sometime I can be so daft at times. :???2: I was expecting to see someone in a tree camouflage hunting a deer...that's just being me that lives in the area of deer hunters.

Tree-mendous my friend.
The trees are truly realistic. Nice touch with the birds.

The owl is awesome. I get the sense of impending doom for some small mammal.
What I love the most though is the way you pick up the moonlight on the hills ... reminds me of so many times of being in a forestry after dark and looking at the same thing

The Hunter. Brilliant ! Just enough detail to give the impression of the owl. You can tell the little birds feel somewhat secure that he can't get to them in the tangle of limbs and the hope he is after a mouse (or very small possum). Beautiful piece. How did you do the trees? They look so real !
