This is a very basic demo that demonstrates how I use alpha masking without any technical
explanations. I use this very simple technique to do a lot of "cutting out" of images.

Plugin needed: Alpha Mask 2.0

Unchecking the visibility box is actually optional, we just don't need to see it anymore. Unchecking the box makes what you see less confusing.

Alpha Masking has many other uses and this demo is only designed to demonstrate only one way you can use it. If you're needing more information regarding other ways this plugin can be used Sarkut has a more advanced discussion here.

Also; Check out this excellent tutorial by theonlychad.... Alpha Masking 101

I hope this is helpful. Give me feedback. Good Luck.

Thank you SO much PeterPawn for doing this tutorial, which is immensely helpful, as the concept of Alpha Masking has eluded me thus far. I can't get enough of it at the moment and I hope, from now on, to make use of it a lot more :idea2:

Thank you so much. it took me three tries; i wasn't turning on the correct layer
It's like having the NUM Lock on until you start paying attention.
Thank you.

When I bring up the alpha mask plugin I only see Invert Mask and Mix alpha as choices. I don't see Paste from clipboard as a choice. When I click the ok on the
alpha mask plugin the layer goes transparent. I know I copied the mask layer because I can paste it into this (formerly blue) transparent layer. I understand the tutorial, but I can't duplicate the results. What could I be doing wrong?
