 Post subject: Beam of Light Between Two Bases

Ok... I have a beam of light:

And a Base:

I want to make it look like the beam of light is between the two bases.

I would like to know how to do this realistically, I have tried something similar to this many times, but can never get it quite right. Any help is appreciated. :D Thanks.

Looking at your images I have 1 advice:
Don't put the beam (or any object) together with the back ground.

Is this what you had in mind?
