I can't get my signature anti-aliased. I originally started with a 4,000x4,000 pixel image than resized, and it's still aliased. Any ideas?

Anti-aliase is usually turned on or off when you draw lines. ( I almost always turn it off.) If your pix is 4000 X 4000 the trick can very well be to ad just a bit ( ~2) of gausian blur BEFORE you resize down. That works well for me.
If your pix is to "durty" in the borders to start with, you may have to redraw the lines by hand.

I took the problem out for a test drive.

Starting with a large letter, then resizing down by selection
until it is twice as big as its final size, True blur at radius of 2.0.
Gives a pretty good result when resized down to its final size.

Leif: Thanks for the advice, I'll try that.

Sarkut: Same thing as Leif.

Welshblue: Thanks, but I am working on making the dinosaur 100% Paint.Net (but bigger), and also 100% Himself22. Thanks anyway!

Edit: They give the same result, Sarkut and Leif. Thanks!

When working on signature, I always work on it at twice the size of the final size, and here's how I do that. The main board's rule says that the size cannot be longer than 500 pixels and higher than 150 pixels. I work at twice it's size, which would be 1000 pixels x 300 pixels. That way everything will be smooth and anti-aliased when I resize it down to 500 x 150 pixels. That's how I would suggest you do that. Start with a final size in mind, and work twice it's dimension, and resize at the end.

Lance McKnight: Thanks, but as I said before, I started with a 4000 x 4000 image, than resized, and it didn't work.

Sokagirl: Thanks, I'll try it.

Pay attention to what I said. You started at 4000x4000 pixels and resized to 500 x 150? That why it didn't turn out well. If you had resized it to 200 x 200, it would had been perfect. The key is the proportional ratio, and you had it backward. It was good you started at 4000x4000, but it was not good that you resized it to 500 x 150. I ran into a similar problem one time when I tried to resize one of my coat of arms sig (I'm sure some of you remember seeing it before), and ended up only resizing it to 150 in heights. It worked perfectly even though I was not happy with how small it appeared. My challenge to you is to go back to the original file and check/uncheck proportional ratio in the resize dialog box. You'll be surprised at how smooth it will turn out when you resize it to the correct ratio. Again, it goes back to what I suggested earlier. If you wanted to make a final size of 500 x 150 pixel, then work from size like 1000 x 300, or 2000 x 600, etc. When you resize it down to 500 x 150, you will see perfectly smooth edges, and etc. Trust me on this. I have made many mistakes with PDN, and I'm trying to pass that nugget on to you.
