Just goes to prove that even though there are no more posts in the thread a tut can still be useful and used by people in their artwork. :D

Exactly. Sometimes I'll get stuck on something and I'll go through the tut's for some specific thing. On occassion one small detail in a tut might be all someone's looking for.

OK ... it can stay

Started updating it. Quite a slow job trying to simplify it all

Glad to hear it's going to stay. There's valuable information there.

Ok, been working through the tutes & I have promised Welshy for a while I would do the spanner. Nearly drove me mad trying t get the curve right where the ring end meets the umm flat bit? Ring spanners have a slight tilt to the ends but I had a hard enough time just trying to get this much done.

Not sure if we are posting our attempts here or not. Also the background was Sargon's texture tute. I stuffed up somewhere but liekd the outcome so I kept it. I've called this one AlterEgo...Ok, here goes:

@ Barbie' ... great outcome.

If I was an ultra critiquing sort of person I'd say the shadow where the ring meets the handle is a tad too dense ... but I'm not.

I won't be updating this to include a 3D version as all it is, is Rotate/ Zoom and Trail.
Plus I don't think many people really want tuts on 'objects', so in future I'll only be writing tuts if they're requested

The shadow where the ring meets IS too dark but my frustration levels were going through the roof so I didn't go back & change it...

I changed the brightness/contrast & that made this bit darker too.

What I liked about this tute & the Viking helmet tute is how to use a line to give the impression of a raised edge rahter than relying on bevel which often turns out quite yukky.

No tutes on objects unless requested - ok, I have one that I wanted to know for a looong time - how did you make those rocks that you did in your garden images?

Well, I need a little more instruction than "just Rotate/Zoom and Trail". :lol2: I tried that and it doesn't look right. Could you tell me what settings to use? Pretty please?

I like tutes on objects. Even if I don't use the actual object again, there's always something that I can use.
