Fantastic work Leif, every thing is so sharp and clean. I love the Simpson's work you do and Marge Munro (DA gallery) is a classic :)

I agree with all of what has been said! Really fabulous. The Marge on this one is the best yet. Super cool!

The linked image is a great work. WOW!

@ AFG. Thanks, yeah i got to post some of that MM parodies. I am actually quite happy about them myself. ;-)
@ ~WelshBlue~ Thanks, shading is sometimes a bit of a challenge.
@ barbieq25 Yeah. Crawling out of the dark did take quite a lot of time. So it means a lot to me that you like it.

I meant to say how much I like the halleberr one ... that's very classy. I love the browns and the way her eyes and lips contrast to it all

Sokagirl, did you see a blank with a line through it & it was greyed out? Clink on the greyed out image & it should come up with something like, "Display deviation anyway" & follow the prompts.

It is well worth the effort to see Leif's work in this one.

The shading is fantastic! Did you draw some of them? Amazing!

All of these is made from an idea i got from a real photo. ( You can probably recognize Marilyn. ;-) ) Then i use the posterzise adjustment to get an idea where to put the shading. The posterzise adjustment makes a rather noisy result, but that is where the fun begins.
I got the idea from a tutorial about making vexel in Photoshop. But they use some sort of smart blur to do what i do by hand.

That's a great idea to use Posterize to help with the shading. That's going to be a big help because for my birthday, my wife gave me the permission to order a Bamboo digital tablet, and as soon as it arrives, I'm gonna start drawing! :D I hope you can be a big help, and looking through your work, it seem simple enough, but I am sure it takes a lot of effort.

First i make a copy of the layer with the original photo. Always good to make sure you have the source at hand.
Next i turn that copy in to black and white. Here is some room for experimenting with the light/contrast. Both before and after.
Then i use posterizse. Start with all sliders set to 2 or 3. Tree gives you shading and highlight. Now you have your reference.
Now it is the big challenge of figuring out how many details you want in the shadings. That is not at all easy. ;-)
You can posterize to more than 3 shadings. I am trying to use 5 in this one. But then the work load increases rapidly. :ouch:
EDIT: Final version of picture posted in first post.
