@ Barbieq: are you sure there's nothing that needs improving?
@ Leif: i imagined the colors were a bit too bright already. oh well...
@ Chad: you're a tricky customer, i would've never seen that.
how about now:

i'm afraid i can't get that shadow any brighter than that, so i tried to darken the back a bit. remind me to save before flattening next time :roll2:

That is better mate. Always remember to save a pdn of the pictures you work on. I have learned that lesson through critique lol. Great concept in the image mate and i love the dark version you have made. Keep up the great work man and i am looking forward to more art from you.

Whoa another amazing Gallery ^_^ happy to see you enter the comp . did you by any chance use shape3d for your orb ? If so the next time you might want to try un-checking the light box that would give you a lighter shade all around . Good luck with the competition ^_~

Nope, Leo, I liked it the way it was...just me I guess.

Another option with the shadow is to up the Ambient lighting. I do that sometimes.

@ Chad: thanks, glad u like it. i'll try to remember the saving next time.
@ Sokagirl: thanks (i'll need that luck :lol2: ). also, no, i haven't used any S3D on the sphere, just on the background, but it's still good advice.
@ Barbieq: sorry? the old one is still there, if it's any consolation...
@ Evil: well tell us what you see, and we'll tell you if you've taken anything :wink2:

personally, i think i might just try a third one (old sphere and new background), if that's fine with you guis

Wow. Great work. I like the color choice in the planet and moons. he subtle deference makes it look so believable.

The outer glow on the planet should not be showing on the dark side of the planet mate. Great job on the starfield i am currently working on perfecting my work on space art but its going to take a while lol.

If you can sort out the glow on the darkside of the planet it should make the image pop that much more

best regards,
chad

Looks nice, but I do not like the glow on the dark side of the planet.

Apart from the outer glow problem it`s a great piece of work. The rings are especially good. So many people just slap on some rings without stopping to consider what colour, how big, what angle or where they are in comparison to the planet. Yours are just about perfect. I love the different colours used. Well done Leonte.
