Hi Blackpenny - thanks for the compliment on the helmet :) If you have managed to get as far as the horns, then you are very close to home. Look forward to seeing your result :wink2:

I did one totally by the book, nothing imaginative, not worth showing. Then I played:

My bad

I thought I was posting in the tut I did for the spanner/ wrench. (Multiple pages open and chatting on MSN the same time ...)
This will be around for a while

Excellent interpretations so far.

@ Pixey ... the white globe is because ... the layer you have your starting texture on, should be transparent below the metal texture :wink2:

@ blackpenny ... very, very nice touch with the background.
Great outside the box thinking with the centre band.

I wrote this tut so's the power of Shape3D would be easy(er) to understand and how to use different textures and distorts to make an image/ object.

Looks like it was all worth it. :D

I learned a lot with this tutorial. Besides Shape3D, it is so neat how the mirror over line and tube oblique work.

I looked at pictures of helmets for inspiration, and a lot had the centre band. It took a while to figure out how to do it, and I couldn't explain it now to save my life. :lol3: I remembered the movie, and was thinking about using a picture from it. This one came up while I was searching.

In my quest, I also learned that the vikings did not wear horned helmets. :o Those are from the Bronze Age, way before the Viking Age, but same part of the world. And they still look darn cool.

Moving on to my next tutorial - barbieq's jewel.
