Some folks have asked me to put up a tutorial on my jewel technique, so here it is.
It's time for me to contribute to the community but I never post a tutorial unless requested.
The making of this jewel sample is in it's simplest form, just an oval jewel with a gold border around it. It demonstrates a simple technique that you can do a lot with but it requires a lot of experimentation on your part after you learn this method. Good luck, let me see what you do with it.

This is a downloadable PDF file.

There are two plugins you will need;
"Metallize" by dpy. Comes in a multiple pack.
"Color Balance" by Boltbait in his plugin pack.

Both are available at the main PdF forum in the plugins section.

This is awesome PP, thanks for sharing.
This is what I got, but I think the silver would go better with blue jewelry:

That looks awesome Sargon. Good job. You're right about siver with blue. I've used that combination and it looks really good. You did a great job here.

Thanks for the tutorial. Here's my try.
I'm not getting the jewel shadow at the end, when I hit delete all the black disappears. :???2:

Thanks for the tutorial. I've seen that it has produced some beautiful results. :)

Steps 15 and 16 seem to be missing.

It seems that the windows for steps 15 and 16 have been hidden by step 17. Great tut though and thanks for taking time to make it. :wink2:

Aha! So I'm not as dumb as I thought. :lol2:

I guessed at what the steps might be - moved the black oval in Step 14, used Gaussian Blur, then did Step 17. I think it worked.

(Thanks j.d. I like the wire around yours. :) )

Here`s my try . I noticed at the end a little note saying to try different things so I used your Wire Pattern tut and had a play with it to get the setting. I also used multiply instead of overlay for the duplicated jewel layer.

Great job GF; I'm glad to see some of you experimenting on your own. That's a very good thing. Your attempt looks great.

Thanks SO much for the great tutorial. Here's my attempt. I didn't know, until now, that there was a problem with steps 15 and 16 - I will download the newer instructions for future use. I too, like Gooney, did my own thing a bit  The frame was made with chaoscope.
