I need to get one of the illustrations I'm doing to have the colors sent in separate layers for silk screen printing. Can I do this in PDN?

You mean CMYK colors each on a separate layer?

Something like that. I'm not familiar with screen printing.

If it is CMYK, make four copies of the image, and use curves plus to flat line all but one of the colors on each image.

Looking at the Wikipedia article on silk screen printing, it looks like it's almost like stenciling, but it's possible they are using a different process. There is almost certainly a way to do what you want, though. But I'm not sure exactly what that is.

I'm still not sure how to do it. I asked this question on the main board (and PMmed someone). Dare I ask ever again. Now I know why I left that forum. I'll have to figure out something myself. Thanks for the help, Ben.

Apparently more than simply separating color channels may be necessary in converting an illustration for silkscreening.
I've seen terms like "dot gain profile" referred to.

Even it is too late but I like to add my 2 cents.
If you mean the traditional SilkScreen printing, then the image should be consist of just solid colors (no gradient). then separate every color on its own layer (more colors means more films and longer time) then change ( or they usually do this step in the print shop) every layer to black and white.
I made before some designs (not digitally) using just black ink on white paper tracing each color after putting a strong light behind the image, I remember every time they asked me to leave spaces between colors so the colors won't overlap on each other when printing the films. but I don't now, my be they use more advanced methods or equipments to do that.

I actually have a friend that took silk screen printing at a vocational school i will have to ask him and see if what you need to do.

Thank you for the replies. The person said he would bring it down to a two/three design (there were five colors, I think) himself. I hope everything works out, but don't hesitate to write what could help me or any of us in the future.
