Has anyone got any tips for making realistic looking stars, nebulas, stars, galaxy's, planets, asteroids or collisions in paint.net, i know Helio does some of this stuff, but if anyone else has any tips it would be much appreciated.

Thanks :D

Well. I'm not a good teacher, but I can lead by example. Here's a pic that, thusfar, is 100% PdN. I used some tuts (made for Photoshop, but still applicable), I'll try to either upload links or point the way to them in a forthcoming edit. Until then:

Keep in mind, I've been working on this for literally months.

Hi there,

one of the things that i llike to create in PDN are spacescapes, so i think i can say i have some experience in that area. I am not the best spacescape creator on PDN but i feel like i can help.

There are massive ammounts of tutotials out there for PDN which when combined create great pictures. So heres all the links i have:

Why don't you start by opening you gallery in the "I Made This" forum? That'll be a good way for us to get a glimpse of your skill.

Sometimes it's not a bad thing to revive some posts. Thanks MA...just a thought - why not make this a section in your gallery? Not sure if you already have done this as my Internet is too slow at the moment.

Midgetalien, thanks, good step you collect most of PDN space tutes, and Lance is right but its good idea to reactivate the thread, as I can see, there is a lot of progress in spacescapes work since the thread started up.

As far as I know, there's no rule against necroposting on this board. I was merely pointing out to midgetalien that those users weren't active on the board anymore. I got nothing against him wanting to add some thoughts to the original poster's thoughts. Those tutorials he linked are great, don't get me wrong, and I wasn't trying to crimp him.

Yep, thread reviving is fine as long as there is something meaningful to add. I would say it is OK in this case, considering the question was never really answered and now it is. 8)

OK so as this thread has now been revived here`s a couple of links to tuts I find useful.
This is a great one for the basics and I found it invaluable when I started doing spacescapes -

http://sites.google.com/site/worldnewse ... herelative

And these I would say are for more advanced users as they are not actually PDN tuts so they will have to be converted but that is all part of the challenge of learning and expanding your abilities. You will probably get to know more about PDN doing it as well. I know I did.

I found the Gimp one particularly useful for my planets. Everything here is easily replicated in PDN with a bit of thought.
Enjoy.
