Here's just a few tips on highlights. It's not very complicated and I hope it's helpful.

Thank you very much, PP.
I really need this. I am an absolute dunce with highlights. Sure, I can follow instructions for a specific item in a tutorial, but on my own I'm lost. Now I have to study it until I understand it thoroughly.

Excellent job, PeterPawn! Two slight things I thought I'd mention: 1. When you mention that the gem casts a shadow down onto the gold, you forgot to darken the gold 'clips' that hold the gem in. 2. When you mention the 'hotspot' on the gem, depending on whether your gem is transparent or opaque, (I'm not sure which in this case) there might be a slight 'glow' on the opposite side of the gem from the hotspot where the light shining though is focused. Not sure how this would look though, I'll have to expiriment.
Anyways, thanks again for the excellent breakdown.
Have a nice day, ~Sidneys1

Hey Sidney, haven't heard from you in a while. You're absolutely right about both points you brought up. On item one I completely overlooked that one, the gold clips should've been shaded as well but I just missed it. On item two, once in a while I will put a glow on the bottom side of the gem as shown here... Thanks for pointing that out, good eye.

Thanks for the compliment, I was just going over the items I would have added, and saw that you missed one However I wouldn't have thought of the side highlights so thanks for the tips Yeah, I wish I could be around more, but I just don't have much time these days... Wayyyy too many hobbies to get them all in at once Also, I just can't bring myself to like the gold-and-gem style images... They just never appealed to me. Seems to be the fad these days though so I haven't had much to say. Have a nice day, ~Sidneys1

I should have saved this tot he desktop...Now after creating another couple of images I found it again - put it in the PDN highlights folder - where else! Too much work & late nights. Set it as my desktop background. Thanks PP!
