I still don't get it. No matter how much I tried, I can't get the link to work like Sargon or ipswichmanc made it.

Lance, I was going to have another go at the twisted effect but after 10 or so attempts at the same sitting I decided that I was too tired but if you're having difficulties then maybe it isn't me.

The polar transformation just won't work like on the tute.

Sargon , you forgot to mention that after step 6 in the twisted effect you have to merge the layer down before using Polar Transformation. I think this might be where Barbie is going wrong. :wink2:

I am not having problem with the twisted effect, that's the easy part. I'm having problem how to do the linked chain effect that Sargon showed ipswinchmanc.

@ Goonfela, thank you very much mate, and you are right I forgot to mention that.
@ Barbie, I am really so sorry about that, why you didn't ask me so I can explain it with some more details on the steps that aren't working correctly with you.
@ Lance, you too I am sorry, my bad, I think my latest tutorials are short and don't have enough details.

Anyways, I am posting the images of most tutorial with complete History and Layers on purpose, showing windows with all their details, you can check those as references as well.
I am doing right now a video tutorial of the technique, I will post soon when it is ready from YouTube.

Didn't ask, Sargon because I thought it was me & it probably still is. One of the problems I often have is that I work on a 3200 x 2400 canvas but I tried 800 x 600 too. I will give it another go when I can sit quietly, no interruptions & follow the steps. Please don't feel bad. Your tutes are good, no - great! I've probably missed a step or a setting.

In the end I did the rope texture one which is so much better in the Archimedes image anyway & I used the stuff up for the wings - so you see not a total loss & I thank you. If it wasn't for you I'd never have been able to make that image.

Don't worry, Sargon, the tutorial was a great idea, it was part of the chain I used in my latest work, Julia's Song, but in order to make the chain, I had to do it manually and erase the part where I wanted the link to loop. I loved the Trail idea, just couldn't figure out how you did it with the transparent gradient. When you post the YouTube video, I'm sure there'll be something I would had gone :slap: "of course!"

Here is the video for the chain.
I am facing some problems with the other part of the twisting, it is not available in high quality, but I will try to get it in HD on YouTube soon.

Great video Sargon. This has cleared a few things up for me as well. I was wondering how to apply the transparent gradient . It`s all so obvious really I don`t know why I couldn`t see it for myself.
Thanks for making this. :wink2:

Here`s my go -
